Calendar SPRING and SUMMER 2026

May 2026. It’s been a very busy winter and I’m delighted to share several upcoming chances to see video and installation work of mine in the US and UK this spring and summer.
If you missed  Everyone, Ever the Nighthouse Studio collaboration between Elaine Buckholtz and myself, commissioned by the 2025 Lumiere Festival in Durham, England you can now take a look at our work transforming the nearly 1000 year old Durham Cathedral into a site specific light and projection installation exploring the layered histories held within the stone of the building – belief, power, persistence, and presence. Seen by nearly 90,000 people as part of the festival, documentation is now up on our new Nighthouse Studio website.
June 16th to 18th at the Sussex Humanities Lab I’ll be showing a work-in-progress of DOMESTIC LIGHT. The exhibition runs 16-18 June. Tickets are free but required for the work in progress and artist talk at 14:00 on 18 June.
Hope to see you at an event or otherwise in person soon,
Ian

The SHL exhibition showcases the current stage of the work, as Domestic Light completes its primary data-gathering phase and moves to performance and installation. It centers on a scale version of the installation that fills SHL with 24 of the multispectral LED light/sound modules created for the project. Constructed as an immersive and open sphere the installation animates and geolocates the spectral record and associated sonic traces and provides a look back in time as the light fades and rises around the earth over the project’s time span.

Video and electronics for the premiere of Fugitivity,  an interdisciplinary performance project by NAKA Dance Theater exploring the theme of fugitivity: Who has lost the ability to move freely? Tsai Performance Center, Boston, MA.
Ruth Concert Hall, Worcester MA.
Delighted to see the projection design for the Odyssey which premiered in 2016 at Kennedy Center and YBCA returning. Van-Anh’s The Odyssey chronicles the saga of the Vietnamese Boat People, and has returned to stage as a touring work for the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam war.
13 Nov. – 15 Nov.  Everyone Ever. 2025 Lumiere Festival, Durham, UK.
premiere of the new collaboration of Elaine Buckholtz and myself set within the vast and solemn interior of Durham Cathedral, EVERYONE EVER draws attention to the layered histories held within the stone of the building – belief, power, persistence, and presence. Referencing both the land that existed before the Cathedral and the technological age that shapes how we perceive and remember, the work is a poetic confrontation in stone and light with the forces of time and transformation.
15 Nov. – 27 Dec.  Le Nozze di Figaro, Palais Garnier, Opera Di Paris. Paris, FR
A 21st century look at Le Nozze di Figaro, created by Director Netia Jones as a concept encompassing costume, set, staging, light and projection returns to the Palais Garnier. Delighted to have brought the video and projection design of this fabulous piece to life.
